It’s the home to New York City’s movie magic , and now it’s about to get a whole lot bigger. Kaufman Astoria Studios, the 94-year-old soundstage and warehouse that has housed some of the biggest blockbusters in New York cinematic history, has announced plans for a massive revamp that includes a new 18,000 square-foot soundstage – all ready by 2016.
The $20 million project has been dubbed Stage N, and will mark the 10th soundstage for the iconic production studio. It will expand to be roughly the same size as the existing Stage K, Kaufman’s enclosed soundstage that opened in 2010.
